The Philippines is an archipelago. It is made up of 7,100 islands, 80 provinces with 170 dialects spoken by the population of about 106.5 million people. It is a small country, rich in natural beauty with welcoming smiles of its people. No matter what time of year, visitors to the country will come across hundreds of festivals celebrated in the Philippines. Each region in the Philippines has its own unique and colorful way of celebrating their distinct regional culture in yearly festivals. This rich cultural diversity of the Filipino People and our heartwarming hospitality is what we showcase and share during the 2 day Manitoba Filipino Street Festival. There are approximately 75,000 Filipinos in Manitoba, the 3rd largest next to Ontario and British Columbia.
The preparation for the 9th year of the Manitoba Filipino Street Festival is well underway. Spotlight is focused on about 65 Winnipeg Filipino Associations, originating from the 8 different provinces in the Philippines.
The Manitoba Filipino Street Festival is organized by a 14 member Volunteer Board of Directors, in coordination with about 65 Filipino associations and groups in Manitoba. The festival is a non-profit activity.
The move to The Maples quadrant, where majority of the Filipino community reside, was so successful that the organizers decided to stay put and call the venue, the Maples Multiplex, home.
This year’s Manitoba Filipino Street Festival is on June 13 & 14, 2020.
See you at the festival!
